The Hype

Thirty minutes after the act
I know it for a frigging fact
That all I thought I lacked
Is nothing once it’s cracked

  2. Devlin, you must know that, with me, the poet is separate from the persona in my poetry!

  6. But, Kayna, not all 'acts' require experience for fullness of feeling. This 'act' the persona talks about, for example, must be very rare, unlike everyday acts like drinking or sex or eating new fare, etc. It could be that sleeping on a bed of nails or bunjee jumping or hang-gliding or acupuncture would all not match up to what they're cracked up to be. :-)

  8. Dear Lucci,

Let's do it again. Free your mind of preconceptions, and read the poem again. It does not need to be talking about anything in particular. It must surely have some personal meaning for every one of us.

  10. Novisi, I'm not sure where the 'itchiness' makes an entrance in this piece :-) but thanks for backing me up on the poet v persona issue.
