Travel Warning – Ghana

No need to take too much care. In fact, you can nearly be reckless. It is still safer than most other countries. There are fewer attacks here. I have lived here all my life. I have not come within a country mile of being attacked by those undesirables. I’m talking about stray animals, ghosts, robbers, murderers and rapists in (con)descending order. So, please visit. It is warm (in people and weather) and as safe as a baby’s smile.

  1. Like that...lol. People would argue... in some way it is almost a satire...

  2. Exactly my fears when I went home! But now, I definitely concur!

Yes, I know some people would argue. I agree Ghana is not as safe as it used to be. In absolute terms, yes. In relative terms, it's still one of the safest in the sub-region if not the single safest, I think. And, yes, a little dash of satire.

Thanks for agreeing. You were missed. One just need to avoid being reckless with security issues. People will generally be fine.

    @ Nana Yaw:
    Thank you, Man.

    @ Myne:
Hey, I'm not sure which part you think is wishful thinking, but Ghana is quite safe. There are no zero stats, but the joint military-police patrols are reducing robbery in neighbourhoods. If you saw the sarcasm, then it's because Ghana is relatively safe, but I do not feel as safe as I used to. :-)
