I Wish I Could Take This Back

There's no bigger critic than a guilty conscience.

About 5 years ago, I knew a girl called Josephine. Pretty, quiet, good - and she was my friend. But she changed her phone number. She gave the new one to me, but I did not save it. I went to her house, but they'd moved. We were really good friends. I think I must have hurt her. If I could take back something I've done to someone, I'd take back the silly way in which I lost contact with Josephine.

Is there anything you've also done to someone that you wish you could take back?

  1. Oh! Charley, that be some way ooo. I could find Josephine for you if you let me know her last name! No kidding! hehehe...hmmm... when I was a kid, I cussed my sister out in anger and tears and up till now I wish I'd never done that! I've learned to hold my tongue when extremely angry. You might sya something that could change your's or someone else's life forever :(

  2. I slammed a door shut whilst my brothers fingers were in the hinges. On purpose.

  3. We've all done stuff or said things to people we wish we never did..eg Breaking up with a perfect girl for no reason etc.
But if we could go back in time and took it all back, will never learn and always repeat the same old things

  5. Had a crush on Ama Adwubi since first grade (yes, I was fast!). Chased her through primary and secondary schools to no avail. But after secondary school (she went to St. Louis in Kumasi), over telephone conversations, she started to "see the light" (lol). We spoke everyday for about a year. Meanwhile, I was preparing to leave Ghana. But out of twisted vengeance for her rejection of me for all those years, I decided to "surprise" her by not disclosing my plans. Ama Adwubi was getting increasingly interested. During our last conversation on Ghanaian soil, just as I was about to take my shower before heading to Kotoka airport, I finally told her I was leaving. I can't describe the shock and confusion in her voice on the other end of the phone line. "Mission accomplished", I thought.
Even so, I tried keeping in touch with her when I left because deep down, I had feelings for her I couldn't easily shake off. Then one day, I called their house phone and it wouldn't go through. Apparently, the family had moved because her father (a medical doctor) had been transferred to a different part of Ghana. I haven't seen, spoken to, or heard from her for about 7 years now. Things I wonder about whenever she runs across my mind:
    -how is she?
    -is she happy?
    -is she married? with kids?
-how does she look like now? does she still have that perfect set of teeth?

  6. We all have regrets. No matter how painful it might be, I guess the only way to make up for it is to avoid repeating it.

  7. I have too many regrets to list on both hands. You can throw in my toes and we still won't be done listing. The sad thing is, I don't always learn from my mistakes. So I guess that'll be my biggest regret: Not learning from the wrongs I've committed in the past :(

  8. And umm...just in case it's not clear above. The person I've done wrong to is Me. No matter what I've done, no one is affected more by my actions than me, on account of my guilty conscience won't let me be :(

  9. Yes, I guess I could put her name out there. But this is just a regret I have. I'm not really looking to find. I'll just learn from the experience....@ Maxine & Gifty.

  10. Well, they say kids can be very cruel. I think I was a cruel kid too. I'd chase any living thing, but people and try to kill it or cause it pain. So, I guess you've apologized many times to your brother?....@ Graham.

  11. Well, it is true that the good that may come out of regret is when we learn from it and try not to repeat it. But it is still very human to wish you could go back and make things right - just the wish...@ B.O.N.T.I and Kobina Saah.

  12. A somewhat similar story; only more loaded on detail - right from Ama Adwubi's name. Quite a story too. So, to give you advice already given me here, why don't you try finding her on face book? We know it is devastatingly effective ;-). She's probably married with 3 kids now, right? ... @ Nanasei.

  13. Yes, we are agreed, then. The biggest critic is guilt! Oh,and you certainly know that most of us fail to learn from our mistakes most of the time... @ Daixy
