10 Ghana Cedis

Dear Reader, this week, I will explore the theme posts again. I’m going to discover what GHC10 can do for a person. That’s about US$7.15. Maybe, I will rather discover what it cannot do. Maybe you want to share what you can(not) do with US$7.15, or its equivalent, wherever you are. First post coming up later today. Thank you.

  1. GHC 10 cannot buy you two 2litre bottles of fabric softener. Just bought one bottle for GHC 9.49 this afternoon. I know this falls under the 'who cares' category but I'm still in shock!

  2. About how much it costs me a day for round trip transportation for work.

  3. Okay another one to file under 'who cares': just got home to find a bottle of fabric softener staring back at me! Could have kept the GHC 10! The more fabric softener the better I guess.

  4. uhmmm, what is the going rate for female prostitutes in Accra these days? I wonder how many rounds GHC 10 will net.

  5. I can actually make a meal out of it but can't really eat out with it. Oh I could get a top from either Forever21 or Walmart or Target!...hehe...I could think of some more :)

  6. @ Abena Serwaa: Fabric softener, huh?

@ Mike: Are you willing to do that research and share the results with us? Lol.

@ Raine: Well, I think commuters in "tro-tro" will spend much less than that on a day. A good average for that will be GHC2, but in what comfort?

@ Maxine: But that's something. The same may not be true for tops in Ghana, unless they are not new or are store-rejects. But I do not know much about these things.

  7. Could that amount get me from Kumasi to Accra and vise versa on public transportation? You could get food from Papaye too! hehe... I'm sure this amount could get you quite a bit if people were not so greedy and over pricing stuff! Sika kakra yi nti!

  8. For $7.15, I can get a footlong (12 inches)Subway melt sandwich, a small bag of potato chips, and a medium cup of soda for lunch here in Washington, DC.
