The League Table

In this (cool) coal-coloured country, most of the skilled, delicious, wonderful women, who have smoothly scaled the prized professional pinnacle, while harmonizing hundreds of happy homes, would have flunked the toxic tone test. But they excelled where it mattered most. Now, tone that!

  2. yes so i came back and quickly got it. yes. it is very shameful. they really would have flunked the toxic (mixed with mercury, you know?) tone test yet they are in high places doing well. definitely my favourite lecturer at the graduate level Prof. Ramatu would definitely have failed it but she is the best at what she does.

  5. Hmm... such a touchy topic, n'est pas. I do understand where you are coming from Nana Yaw, but the are equally light skinned women who have also had to work their butt off just to get ahead. Not all are dumb bimbos you know?

  6. I agree with Lucci here. No stereotypes please...

  7. Nicely written as always NY. Lucci & Myne, I don't see the stereotyping in today's post. I don't think that recognizing the accomplishments of those who fail the paper bag test means those who do pass the test are bimbos.

  8. Mmmmm "most of the skilled, delicious, wonderful women"? Not sure about that one...I'm with Lucci and Myne on the stereotypes. Some people may start to assume that most light-skinned women are in fact not naturally light and the second assumption will be that these women were able to get to where they are simply on the basis of their tone rather than qualifications.

  9. Should i attain a position, i would like to think it's because of my brains, if passing the brown paper bag, tends to be a leverage for me, then so be it. I sure as hell didn't ask for it.

  10. Very quickly we try to look for examples of those who are light-skinned and who have made it. This post does not say that only untoned skin damsels make it. Nope! it is writing against the act itself. Is it good? Is it bad? That's what it is tackling and it is informing us that we don't need to tone for us to get ahead in life. You can be as black as charcoal (forget the cliche) and still make it. So there is no stereotyping here. NOPE...

Besides, the fact that you are light-skin does not mean you toned (or rudely, you bleached). Nope! Some are born with it. It is the idea that you have to be such and such a colour to progress, and those who seek only such people to put in certain places that this post and the latter are against...or?
