Poisoned Chocolate

Imagine that A keeps a bar of poisoned choc in a fridge he uses together with B, C and D. One of them gleefully gobbles the toxic confectionary without leave, and drops dead. Forget the law. Is the bigger moral issue that A intentionally placed the death-dealing choc in the common fridge, or is it the fatal dishonesty of the chocolate-pinching corpse?

  1. it's A's morals we shd be worried about. It's a common fridge shared by all! Heck he could have eaten it too! hehe

  2. I would think it is definitely the dishonesty of the inconsiderate "chocolate-pinching corpse". Clear case of ask before you eat!

  3. A is at fault here. His 'punishment' for the pincher is rather disproportionate! Death for sticky fingers(or mouth)?!

  4. My question is, if not to set a trap, what was the purpose of the chocolate? Decoration...

  5. A has to be in the clear. Yes, the fridge is shared but there is no indication that things in the fridge are free for all. The person gobbled their own death gleefully thinking he/she was cheating someone else.
And who knows A could have been storing that chocolate for when he chose to end his/her own life. Now the other person has deprived A of this opportunity as well (morbid but possible)...
Nana Yaw, what's up with the theme of fridge raids in your recent posts. Should we beware of NY and his fridge contents? I am not coming near your fridge!

  6. In fact if possible the dead person should be charged for stealing. It is a common fridge but not a common choc, or is it? We live in a common country, in a common home and in a common room but we do not take things that do not belong to us.

  7. Maxine, wouldn't you say that A is entitled to put poisoned chocolate in the fridge on the faith that nobody would attempt to steal his choc?

  8. Yes Kiz, I'm tempted to think this is a case where we have 2 sinners and 2 victims!

  9. Yes, Abena, except you have to look unkindly on what A did. Surely he put the poisoned choc in the fridge with the knowledge that somebody who was in the habit of taking without asking, would do it again!

  10. KAO, strong medicine, yes, but sinning nonetheless.

  11. Bio, I, for one, cannot absolve either person. About writing about fridges, it is a mere coincidence, I assure you.

  12. Hmm, Nana F, I believe I have already said, many times, how I feel.

  13. Dear Flossy, welcome back. You were missed. I know A's action is shocking and antisocial, to say the least. B's is probably less shocking, but no less antisocial, no?
