I do not care what tired toes I tread on – it is an inferior culture which treats children churlishly; no rational respect. At an otherwise winning wedding reception last Saturday on a sunny shore, the hungry minors were ejected by the MC from the querulous queue at the food table, while the adults ate and wasted. Even the lower species feed their young first. Thankfully, the gracious groom had the children put back in front.
It's shameful i tell you, how much food will their small bellies contain anyways. Glad the groom put him in check.
ReplyDeleteI am almost tempted to say that the MC is manifesting subconsciously the treatment meted to him as a child.
ReplyDeleteHis attitude exposes him as a victim of a terrible childhold.
Good for the groom, what was the MC thinking? Though usually the children are fed first and separately.
ReplyDeletethis brings back memories of my childhood, going to parties or receptions and having to share drinks or only getting to eat after all the grown ups had eaten. always felt it was very unfair.couldn't wait to grow up.
ReplyDeleteNana, it reminds me of a party you and I attended some 7 odd years ago at the home of Judge (I wont mention his name). Food was served sometime after 11pm. Kids were instructed not to go anywhere near the food queue till all the adults had eaten. We cldnt intervene so we boycotted the meal. It really shocked me!
ReplyDeletegood one, Nana Yaw. I feel you. well observed.
ReplyDeletewhat manner of MC is that? has he forgotten that the Lord said children should always come first? In any case, who instructed him to chase the children away?
ReplyDeleteJust the primitive aspect of our culture. Due for modernisation.
ReplyDeleteI dont blame the MC just like posekyere said, he is just repeating the treatment meted to him when he was young...pls dnt be harsh on the poor MC.
ReplyDeletei'm sorry, the MC is a cretin. that being said it is a sad situation. i would have suffered the same as a child but my parents always made sure that when such atrocious decrees were made we always ate from their plates.
ReplyDeleteyes, lucci, tell us all. so shameful.
ReplyDeletei will take your word for it, posekyere.
ReplyDeletemyne, are kids really usually fed first and separately? i really don't think so.
ReplyDeletewell, now you're very, very, very grown up (a different meaning for each 'very') lol.
ReplyDeletedon't i remember, kiz man? i don't know why it should not occur to anybody that kids should eat first, and at a reasonable time too...
ReplyDeletethanks, yngvild.
ReplyDeleteyes, anon, he'd probably forgotten what the Lord said.
ReplyDeletekwame, overdue even...
ReplyDeletethanks for your view, anon #2, but i don't think i was harsh on the mc.
ReplyDeletesmooth, kfc. and in addition to that, other parents stuff their kids up at home to reduce the chances of disgrace or famine.
ReplyDeleteYa. Nana, very very much overdue. Thank God i was brought up to respect, not fear anybody and to be seen and heard as well.
ReplyDeleteLol, Kwame. Bring up your kids in the same way.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, Nana....
