So, my colleague is dining out at eleven ‘midnight’, when a tight, comely cluster of barely-stopped-suckling cubs ‘swashbuckle’ in. The oldest of them cannot be more than twelve. We used to be timid in our time. These kids are cool and confident; making business calls, ordering ‘haute cuisine’ and acting cosy and lovey-dovey. They grow up so fast, now!
Yes they do grow up fast now. We look up to our elder siblings and in so doing pick up a lot in a short period of time. If you are twelve you still want to do what your twenty year old sister or brother is doing. However, this has extended to the negatives.
ReplyDeleteNYA, i an on a long working trip to all the cocoa growing regions and villages (nor of them ). That's why i seem to be absent.
As child i looked up to my brother, that era i wished i was i boy, so could do the tings he and his friends did lol. I'm so happy that tom boy stage is long over, or is it? Hmmmm........
ReplyDeleteyes oh. and i don;t envy them jos.
ReplyDeleteDo some good work while away, NFA. And I agree with kids learning to walk before they try flying.
ReplyDeleteSo am I glad, Lucci.
ReplyDeleteLike you, Fragilelooks, I don't envy them. Growing up way before their time.
ReplyDeleteI believe it's more to do with the technology and amenities available to them. I was my late twenties when i first used a mobile, Uni student when i first used a PC, watched only GBC TV when i was in Gh...catch the drift? A young person today will be shocked by the "backwardness" of those days!! Basically, the youth in all countries/cultures are growing faster than their elders. It is up to the elders to keep them grounded....somehow.
ReplyDeleteI actually pity them sometimes. What is childhood when you're an adult at 10?
ReplyDeleteYou can say that again! What's happening to the world?!?!
ReplyDeleteMy question is, what are they doing out so late? Where are the parents?
