Bananas in Pajamas

A queer, questionable name for a children’s cartoon series. Many baby-dove diversions, like adorable nursery rhymes and clean ‘cable’ cartoons, conceal cunning, clandestine, adult themes, which only show their unfaithful face and crazy colours upon dwindled innocence. My favourite poet – William Blake – was a master at the stainless strain of this craft. Imagine my heart of horror when it suddenly settled on my mind, in the shower – my thinking place – this morning. I thought back to Bananas in Pajamas and the scandalous sense it makes to me right now.

  3. I watched this show on VH1 once; I love the 70's I think. There was a children's show called H.R. Pufnstuf with all these weird characters doing just bizarre things-an all around confusing show. Anyway, I can't remember exactly what the connection was, but it turns out the show had a lot to do with smoking weed, hence the name PUFNSTUF or PUFFING STUFF. LOLOL.

It's funny but a lot of children's shows/movies have a lot of subliminal messages. Take Shrek and Cat in a Hat for example. I guess the good thing is as a child, you are often times oblivious to these things, THANK GOODNESS!

  4. Never saw Bananas in Pjs but I can definitely see the double entendre! I have heard about subliminal lewd messages in some Disney cartoons including the Little Mermaid...Fascinating stuff oh and interesting thinking place.

  7. Yes Nana Yaw. Pufnstuf. This show was way before my time so I can't give you a lot of details, but from the little snippet that I saw, there was a lot of smoke and psychedelic colors among other things (MUSHROOMS).

And speaking of smoke, how about Scooby and Shaggy...notice how there was always a lot of smoke in the back of their van and the duo (Scooby and Shaggy) always looked high once they stepped out?

    ha hahahah.

  9. Hehehe! Can't remember exactly but something to do with a priest officiating a wedding (between the main characters?) with a visible member. Now I'm exposing the fact that I have never watched The Little Mermaid or Aladdin or Bambi!

  12. lol, lucci, there's more. even some fairy-tale titles e.g. "puss in boots" no longer sound politically correct. hmm, our freedom of stigma-free expression is fast shrinking!

  13. It is believed that when certain subliminal messages are received by our mind, the subconscious mind is able to interpret it and so we act accordingly. Don't worry, they had always been there...
