Insist That The Police Do Their Work Well

I cannot tell whether the British structured our police force to be automatons carrying out orders instead of investigative thinkers. Case in point: a road accident is reported. They charge you with a provisional offence (couch investigations). Then they ask you to go away while they investigate. How could they have charged you with a provisional offence without even going to the scene of the accident? Mtcheew! It is our civic duty to insist on a high standard of professionalism from the police. Do not be afraid of them. Remember, the more they bully you, the more mistakes they make. The more procedures they breach. Keep your calm. Speak the truth. If they have done a shoddy job, the law will come to your aid (in court). I HAVE YET TO SEE A MORE PATHETIC SIGHT THAN A BUNGLING COP IN COURT.

  1. Does a ticket count as a provincial offence? Anyway, almost got charged with one once because i missed the "no U-turn" sign that was hidden behind some thicket while driving at early dawn... on a poorly lit road in Accra. Anyway, the policeman (who all along had been hiding, waiting for his prey) claimed he didn't have the ticket with him, so I told him he could take down my address, and mail me my ticket, but he didn't have a pen either... so i said "too bad!" He then shamelessly asked me for a ride to the station so he could give me my ticket, seriously??? I'm not for lawlessness, but had to share...

It's not the British, NY. It's our own making....and the quality of the personnel, i think!

  3. Kwame, the modern police was put in place by the british. Period. History lol.

But i think we must insist that the right things be done. Already, people are calling for restructuring. They need to be equipped and monitored

  4. They are a joke! It goes beyond the structures and equipment. There have a fundamental "miscomprehension" of their basic function(s). And this is coming from a lecturer in Criminal Law.

The last time the British did any recruiting for us was 50+ yrs ago, NY. Why keep blaming them?
