Most people in Accra are no longer served the news in a spreadsheet print on a plate. Just like their food, they like their news fast. Enter the radio and the internet. Although I learnt of Osama bin Laden’s death via twitter, I admit the surest we can hope for (for the internet folk) is
myjoyonline or
ghanaweb. So, how do you get your Ghana news?
Ghanaweb is an old habit I decided last week to shed. Switching to myjoyonline.
ReplyDeleteRadio, online news sites (myjoyonline mostly but I'm finding it boring so i use it for reference only on my blog), facebook and twitter
ReplyDeletePeacefmonline because I find it easier to get to the news items than myjoyonline.
ReplyDeletePeacefmonline and myjoyonline. Ghanaweb is just so "ploddingly" slow and late in comparison!
ReplyDeleteGet great non-mainstream/fringe news on GH on messageboards. Specifically groups for Akoras (ie. Old Achimotan Students).
ReplyDeleteCan't stand the hate and politicing that goes on on Ghanaweb and Joy Online is not the most comprehensive source (like others mostly use for comparisions).
Decided to check out Peace Online from reading the above comments. Here's the headline I was met with:
ReplyDelete"JJ: Someone Either Than Mills Will Emerge NDC's Presidential Candidate In July".
Repeated as first sentence of article. I think I'll pass on Peace for another couple years. On a positive note, the only way from current state has to be up, right...?
@ Think-About-It:
ReplyDeleteI've been stuck on myjoyonline. But may I suggest you check out citifmonline as well? Then let's have a discussion. I really checked out citi and I think it is slightly ahead of joy.
@ Nana Yaw Sarpong:
ReplyDeleteI find joy's digital media boring these day as well.
@ Anon #1:
ReplyDeletePeace fm yes, but don't you find they sacrifice quality [of language] for latitude of news items?
@ Kwame Mensa-Bonsu:
ReplyDeleteWhat I have against Ghana web that they cannot be traced. So they can lie or defame people with impunity. Or has that changed lately?
@ Anon #2:
ReplyDeleteMessageboards? A forum I have not explored as yet...
@ Anon #3:
ReplyDeleteThat is the downside of peace fm.
