Suddenly, sexual harassment claims are flying about in the media. Each complaint is by a woman against a man. It makes one wonder many things. Is it all true? Are there so many male bastards out there? Are the women now sprouting a voice? Are the men innocent? Is the allegation of sexual harassment becoming a new tool of oppression by women against men?
Maybe the women are "sprouting more voices...they have always had a voice...but most times both parties are guilty. So..yes..it is some kind of tool.

ReplyDeleteYes to the male bastards out there... some Ghanaian men are way to aggressive.
ReplyDeleteI think most of these allegations are true, especially in the work place where there is asymmetry of power between employer and employee and b/n the sexes... I believe only a few would have dubious ulterior motives. So perhaps women are finding their voice... and speaking against unwanted sexual advances! That said, i know men are sexually harassed too, but society doesn't empathize... and men probably find it emasculating to report these...
ReplyDeleteps. purely speculative.
It could be both ways: a tool and perhaps a voice. I am very skeptical about most of these claims though. Haven't we, in our university days, seen girls who boast of exchanging sex with grades. In fact I had one in my class and I overheard her saying it to the eyes of all who would listen. After the deed has been done, she would go about telling people it was the lecturer who forced her to do it. This happens everywhere and let's not pretend men are so vile as most women want us to believe. It is terribly sad.

ReplyDeleteultimately what we want is a system that allows for people who have been harassed to have a voice (and a safe environment in which to speak) met with a system that allows for a fair trial for the accused.
